I am a self-taught oil painter who has had the opportunity of one-on-one sessions with well-renowned artists. I study the works of Hudson River School artists Frederic Church, George Inness, etc. This has taught me to paint how I see it, not necessarily as it is.
From an early age, colors have always intrigued me. I enjoy putting shape and color together in harmony, whether it be the natural beauty of landscapes, skyscapes, still life paintings, or the mechanical beauty of man-made objects.

Emil “Butch” Brinza
Born in Milwaukee, WI in 1941.
I attended the Riviera Fine Arts Center in 1983 and have been experimenting with oil painting ever since. After moving to Payson in 2003, at long last, I fulfilled my dream to venture into the art world through oil painting. Since my retirement, I finally got there! I get much joy and happiness in doing so.
Sometimes I drift into Abstract Art; influenced by Wassily Kandinsky, Art Deco and Art Nouveau also give me inspiration.
For my work to be successful, I have realized that my art must stir emotion in both myself and the viewer.
These paintings are an invitation for you to pause and reflect on how they kindle your emotions.

The Architecture of Emotion

The Artist behind
the brush
My journey began at age 14 performing hand painted pinstriping on custom autos and motorcycles. As time moved on, I worked in the auto refinishing of classic and specialty automobiles and motorcycles.
1965 while in Milwaukee WI, I opened my own business doing hand painted pinstriping/custom painting on Harley-Davidsons and Antique, Custom, Classic and prototype vehicles. Including the Blue Flame land speed record holder and the oldest motorcycle in Harley-Davidson’s Museum.
As my achievements grew it reached clients from movie stars, musicians, Rolls Royce Motor Company, Harley-Davidson Motor Company, the Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg association and her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth II.
My work has won numerous awards throughout the decades. In 1970 I was voted, by my peers the Painter of the Year. Architectural Digest featured my work in their January 2004 issue for my pinstriping and custom painting.
In 2003 I received a Life Time Achievement Award presented to me by The International Show Car Association in concert with Harley-Davidson.
I pinstriped in gold the P-5 Rolls Royce that was loaned to Queen Elizabeth during her official visit to Bermuda in July 1976.
Throughout the decades I spent much time with color experimentation and free expression in paint design.
By using the disciplines of custom painting with my artistic talent, I create oil paintings and decorative panels combining painting and hand painted pinstriping.
The Studio & Process
Texture & Motion
Every stroke is a dialogue between the canvas and the hand. I explore the interplay of color and fluid motion to capture the essence of the subject.
Artisanal Craft
My process is rooted in the tactile experience of the medium. I work in layers, allowing each pigment to breathe and interact with the previous one.
